The essence of Love, while elusive, pervades everything, fires the heart, stimulates the emotions, renews the soul and proclaims the Spirit.  ~ Ernest Holmes, Science of Mind, p. 478

In the month of October, our gaze will be on the Core Values of our Beloved Community, and our intention will be to incorporate and live those values with which we resonate.  It is when we look deeply within our hearts to see what is precious, valuable, and essential to our lives that we begin living more fully from the center of the True Self.  Human experiences then become viewed from a greater perspective, one in which we remain committed to those higher ideals that motivate and lead us successfully through life.

Reading through the Greater Philadelphia Center for Spiritual Living’s Core Values, we probably discover that they align well with our own, and we may be encouraged to live them more fully in our experiences.  They are: Love, Kindness, Healing, Oneness, Co-Creation, Abundance, Spiritual Growth, Service, Inclusion, and Harmony. We will address them all over the next four Sundays and see how we may embody and live them more completely in our personal lives, then extend them to the world.

Examining our individual values is a wonderfully productive exercise, as it elevates us to see deeper meaning in our existence and allows us to use discernment in the thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and activities we may choose.  Asking, “Is this mine to do?” in the context of, “Does this align with my core values?” insures our choice of the right road for our endeavors, as we discover,  develop, and follow our life purpose.

Please continue joining us each week on our live-streamed Sunday Celebrations at 10:30 A.M. on You Tube and Facebook, and invite your friends to spend an uplifting hour with us.  Simply go to our website, www.cslphilly.org. Our theme for October will be, “Living Our Values,” and this Sunday’s first topic of the month is, “The Value of Love and Kindness.”  Previous Sunday Celebrations are archived on our website, along with the daily “Love Notes” that Rev. Mike and I enjoy sharing with you.

You’ll find information about our Center’s Practitioners who are ready to provide spiritual support for you, as they also continue to support our Center in prayer-treatment. We are deeply grateful for your continued contributions that are working to keep our Center healthy enough to open the doors for us all, when the time is right.

With great love and respect,

If we could give up our diseases — offer them on the alter of faith to the Giver of all life — we would be healed.  It is not easy to release our troubles; we are prone to linger with them. But, by effectual and fervent prayer, we gradually loose false thought into the native nothingness.  God is perfect life, and when we enter His light, we are healed.  ~ Ernest Holmes, Science of Mind, p. 501

The ever-changing trees during this fall season teach us the wisdom, joy, and beauty of releasing that which no longer serves, an important lesson for our spiritual and material progress.  It is not possible to move forward until we liberate ourselves from limiting ideas, emotional baggage, erroneous human race conscious thoughts, and false beliefs in separation from Source.  Releasing resentments, regrets, and guilt frees us to enter more deeply into the underlying Unconditional Love of God.  As our Jewish friends prepare to observe Yom Kippur this weekend, the holiest of all their celebrations, they confess and atone for their “sins,” in order to forgive and to be forgiven.  The “at-one-ment” that occurs as we allow negativity to be transformed into affirmative, constructive ideas and experiences is what we all seek.

Prayer is always the answer, and Spiritual Mind Treatment is a powerful, affirmative declaration of Truth that can dissolve those negative notions and emancipate us from their hold.  Through this spiritual practice, we replace doubt with Faith, lack with Abundance, pain with Peace, conflict with Harmony, loneliness with Love, and limitation with Freedom.  As we let go of the past, surrendering to the Perfect Life in this present moment, we begin to form a new idea, an inspired future, for ourselves and others.

We may enhance the process by working in the physical realm, as well, by cleaning out closets, releasing anything we no longer use to the benefit of people who would be happy to receive them, and aligning more completely with the Law of Circulation. It is also essential that we do not hold too tightly to our good, insisting that the blessings in our life remain exactly as they are, or we may actually prevent even greater good from coming to us.  As Emerson says, We cannot let our angels go; we do not see that they only go out that archangels may come in. Let’s let this beautiful, new season teach us to enter deeply into Life’s Perfect Circulation and celebrate our Oneness with The Divine.

We love bringing you each week our live-streamed Sunday Celebrations at 10:30 A.M. on You Tube and Facebook.  Simply go to our website, www.cslphilly.org. Our theme for September has been, “Everything New,” and this Sunday’s final topic for the month is, “The Leaves Must Fall.” Rev. Mike and I enjoy sharing our daily “Love Notes” with you,  and they may all be accessed on our website, as well.

Creativity is intelligence having funAlbert Einstein

As our spiritual community comes together to find and implement innovative and inspired ideas to co-create a new environment of “Living, Loving, and Learning,” we do well to enter into these divine activities with joy, as well as with clear intention.  Ernest Holmes suggested that we “take what we are doing seriously,” while not “taking ourselves too seriously” while we are doing it!

We rely on Principle for all creative activity, as we join together in One Mind and One Heart to bring about an inspired future for the Greater Philadelphia Center for Spiritual Living, enhanced Peace and Prosperity for ourselves and our loved ones, and True Harmony and Wholeness for the world.  The Infinite Intelligence of this Universe is available at all times and in all places and is actually flowing through each one of us now. As we welcome this Divine Activity with love and delight, opening our hearts to one another, we begin amazing ourselves with what truly is possible.

It requires moving beyond any former subjective patterns of lack or limitation, as we expand into greater freedom and joyous living. Neither global catastrophes nor personal challenges have any power of themselves, as conditions change as quickly as a new consciousness prevails.  As we establish beautiful, new spiritual prototypes in our individual and collective consciousness, the Creative Infinite Intelligence reveals them with great success.

Even while we connect with one another virtually at this time, we are using a Power for Good that is greater than we are, yet right within and all around us. We are privileged to use it for good and honored to allow IT to use us for even greater Good. Let’s let this Intelligence show us the resources at hand, as we move creatively and joyfully into a new realm of divine activity.

You are cordially invited to join us in our live-streamed Sunday Celebration this Sunday at 10:30 A.M. on You Tube and Facebook.  Simply go to our website, www.cslphilly.org. Our  theme for September is, “Everything New,” and this Sunday’s topic is, “The Creative Community.” This Sunday’s Annual Community Meeting will take place from 12:30 – 2:45 P.M. and will be a lively, informative, important, and delightful gathering on Zoom.  Please contact Linda O’Neil at admin@cslphilly.com for more information.

I am thrilled with the Almighty force of the Universe as it courses through every part of me.  It quickens every part of me into a newness of life and action.  ~ Ernest Holmes, Science of Mind, p. 242

Feeling the newness in the air, as we approach the fall season, we naturally gravitate toward the release of the “what-has-been” and the embrace of fresh ideas of “what-now-is-possible.”  Connecting deeply with the Living Force of the Divine within and all around us, we find the letting go of past negatives almost effortless, as we replace each such thought with a greater truth.

There is no place in the Mind of God for anything less than Perfect Life, and that Life loves flowing through each of us with grace and ease, as we eliminate any false belief or mental obstruction to its beautiful and powerful movement.  Constriction is replaced with Freedom, pain with Peace, confusion with Harmony, and resentment with Love. As our focus of attention rises from the relative to the Absolute, instantaneous changes in consciousness produce life-altering conditions: mentally, emotionally, and physically.

Let’s make clear, conscious choices about our personal lives and the world itself, bringing a radiant, new expression of Divine Life in a consciousness of Infinite Possibility. Everything new, everything beautiful, everything Divine!

Tonight, at 6:30 P.M., we begin a wonderful, eight-week course, based on the book “Treat Yourself to Life,” by Raymond Charles Barker.  This is an accredited class with Centers for Spiritual Living and a great opportunity to bring more love, prosperity, health, and creativity into your life. Work is love made visible. And if you can’t work with love, but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of the people who work with joy. ~ Khalil Gibran, on “Work,” from The Prophet

As Labor Day approaches, we may still ponder its meaning for us, even though this year’s weekend will be quite different from those of the past.  In fact, as we honor workers everywhere who have made substantial contributions to the strength, prosperity, and wellbeing of  our country, we realize what deep gratitude we owe to the “front-line workers” during this time of Covid-19.  They continue their tireless endeavors to save lives, support healing, and comfort those who would, otherwise, have died alone.

Many of us have done what we could to maintain our day-to-day activities from home, learning the joys of Zoom and other means of virtual connection.  Meetings, classes, and essential activities on line have become the “new normal,” and we have increased our knowledge and flexibility in the process.  Despite missing our colleagues and in-person meetings, we have been able to continue business-not-as-usual and have reason to feel both pride and gratitude for our ability and willingness to learn and grow.

We have also discovered how meaningful it can be to enter more often into stillness, in order to do our “inner work,” reviewing limiting thoughts and subjective patterns that may need to be expanded or transformed, and renewing our commitment to our core beliefs.  This Work deserves a capital “W,” as well, for it is as we enter willingly into doing what is ours to do internally, we are guided and motivated to take this same attitude into our daily activities.

Let’s choose to enter in with joy and gratitude to the even the simplest task and certainly into the grand activities that are ours to do, realizing that no one can perform your responsibilities nearly as well as you.  This is sacred work, and I join you in moving through each day in a consciousness of delight in all that we choose to accomplish.

One week from tonight, from 6:30 – 9:00 P.M., we begin our dynamic, eight-week course, “Treat Yourself to Life,” based on Raymond Charles Barker’s book by the same name.  This is an accredited class with Centers for Spiritual Living and a sweet opportunity to bring more love, prosperity, health, and creativity into your life. Simply register with Linda O’Neill at admin@cslphilly.com and she will e-mail you the class materials, as well as the Zoom link.  Let her know if you have or need the book itself.

Thank you for continuing to join our live-streamed Sunday Celebrations each week on You Tube and Facebook.  You may access either through our website, www.cslphilly.org. Our fresh theme for September will be “Everything New,” and this Sunday’s topic is, “Rethinking Work.” Our Zoom Socials* will now be held the first Sunday of each month, directly after our Celebration, and this is the number to use if you wish to join us for a short time of conversation.  *(Go to zoom.us and enter this Meeting I.D. number: 839 5103 2452)
