“We shouldn’t view the state of the world with fear, because we shouldn’t have any fear. We shouldn’t view it with timidity because we shouldn’t be timid. But we should view it with intelligence, because the only sin is the lack of intelligence.” ~ Ernest Holmes, Science of Mind Magazine, 1955

“We have to have the same faith in what we teach and preach and practice that science has or the gardener has.”  ~ Ernest Holmes, The Philosophy of Ernest Holmes

Let’s embrace Ernest Holmes’ “Divine Fearlessness,” as we encounter situations external to us and seemingly out of our control. This is a natural outgrowth of our ever-deepening faith in the Power and Presence and Possibility of God. Truly, there is nothing to fear when we realize our constant nurture and guidance from the One Source. Our life is God’s Life, for there is none other. It is in this sacred remembrance that we are able to rest in supreme confidence and walk boldly into each day of our lives.

As we develop the Faith OF God, which is so much more authentic and productive that simply faith IN God, fears dissolve into the “natural nothingness” from which they came. We were designed to live intelligently, confidently and successfully, and it is our complete dependence on Spirit that invites this peace and freedom to accompany our every experience.

With Halloween occurring soon, our topic for Sunday, October 30th will be, “Leave the Fear; Grab the Faith,” as we discover how to convert fear to faith individually and collectively. We will live stream from the Inspiration Café, so please join us by going to our website, www.cslphilly.org and click on the orange “Watch Live” button. Look through the site to discover our coming events and to view past Celebrations and Love Notes.

When life seems challenging, or even downright “frightful,” it may be time to check the Practitioner Page on our website and choose to contact one for caring and competent support and Spiritual Mind Treatment.

With great love and respect,

Dr. Maxine

“The Spirit is a perfect unity and we harmonize with this unity when we maintain a state of peace in our minds. . .We have learned that all material forms come from one ultimate substance. . . The original substance takes many forms; multiplicity, or many, within unity, or the One.”  ~ Ernest Holmes, Science of Mind, p. 493

In our “Declaration of Principles,” we remember that, “This One manifests Itself in and through all creation . . .,” that “. . . all people are incarnations of the One Spirit,” and that, “. . . the ultimate goal of life is to be a complete emancipation of all discord of every nature and that this goal is sure to be attained by all.” The latter quote may seem a lofty, fairly inaccessible intention, but perhaps that is only because we have not yet fully released all fallacious human argument against the Infinite Power and Possibility of God.

We require a willingness to see beyond our limited perception of ourselves and humanity by beholding the Divinity and Unity back of all appearances to the contrary. It is this peaceful and powerful path that leads us from separation to Unity, from divisiveness to Oneness, and we are wise to deepen our connection to Spirit and to one another, as we expand our view and learn to live in appreciation instead of judgment.

As we invite the Presence to awaken us to the beauty of all life forms, we realize our sweet connection with the Peace and Power within Spirit which flows through all sentient beings. Let’s begin with ourselves, our loved ones, our Beloved Community, and allow Spirit to lift all humanity to a greater realization of the Unity of Life.

With United Nations Day coming next week, our topic for Sunday, October 23rd will be, “United Communities,” as we recognize the need to experience Oneness with beings from all walks of life, theologies, political views, etc. We will live stream from the Inspiration Café, so please join us by going to our website, www.cslphilly.org and click on the orange “Watch Live” button. Look through the site to discover our coming events and to view past Celebrations and Love Notes.

Oct, 2022: October BoT SPOT

Welcome to GPCSL’s October BoT SPOT!

“I gently review GPCSL yesterdays, learning, loving, and transforming the past and entering in with celebration to the Center’s new possibilities today.”

This affirmation represents the overall theme of our GPCSL Annual Community Business Meeting held on October 2nd, 2022. There was a downpour of rain that day only to be met with an outpouring of care for our wonderful Center. Thank you to all who joined us onsite and virtually!

In case you missed it, here are a few highlights from the meeting:

  • Looking Back: over the last 12 months, we have strengthened our financial position by reducing our expenses, investing in our livestream Sunday Celebration production, and focused on providing opportunities for the community to be together. Classes continued to be abundantly available and well attended virtually. We welcomed three new practitioners and two new members. Our minister, and “BOGO” Rev. Mike, continued to advocate for inclusion and community by regularly interacting with the Main Line Ministerium and the larger CSL organization.
  • Looking Ahead: having successfully navigated rather large and unprecedented rocky terrain, we are well positioned now to ramp up to more regular in-person gatherings, Sunday Celebrations, and events! As well as begin to look for our new Great, Permanent Space (GPS). Innovation, creativity, and vision are guiding us to our next location.
  • Financially Speaking: we have consistently remained current on all accounts payable and with the help of our Treasurer and Triple A team leader, we have the insight needed to plan the Center’s next steps in alignment with our current financials.

Speaking of insight, it is “IGP” season! That means we all will be given the opportunity to join the GPCSL Intentional Giving Program for 2023 later this month. Our Center, like all Centers for Spiritual Living and many non-profit organizations, is member and friend supported. IGP donations are our largest and most reliable source of financial support. With consistent financial support, the Center will grow and go on to serve not only us, but generations to come. That’s why we invite you to invest in it, by participating in the IGP…to the degree that works for you. Every committed donation is one that helps us effectively manage the Center’s finances and confidently plan for the future. We thank you in advance for your thoughtful commitment to this program. If you are currently participating in the 2022 IGP, thank you for meeting your commitment before the new year.

With love and deep appreciation,

Edie Janik

“Continually we must expect new revelations of old truths. We should never lose sight of the fact that the soul is on the pathway of an endless and ever-expanding experience, and that only by expansion can it evolve.”  ~ Ernest Holmes, Science of Mind, p. 439

Our sacred, inner work benefits everyone in our circle of influence, as well as moving us gracefully and powerfully along our own spiritual journey. As we willingly do the deep work of clearing and cleansing and transforming, we not only become unobstructed instruments for the flow of Divine Wisdom, but we are more effective in positively touching and lifting others.

In our kind and honest self-evaluations, we find joy in changing longtime patterns of erroneous beliefs and freedom in embracing newer, truer ideas about ourselves and our environment. Encouraging and supporting each other on this peaceful and powerful pathway, we develop the Beloved Community that continues to love and encourage us on our individual and collective journeys.

Our topic for Sunday, October 16th, will be, “Soul Work: Solo and Collective,” both essential to build a strong Beloved Community. We will livestream from the Inspiration Café, so please join us by going to our website, www.cslphilly.org and click on the orange “Watch Live” button.  Look through the site to discover our coming events and to view past Celebrations and Love Notes.

Whenever you may desire to connect with one of our Practitioners for help with a challenge or simply to deepen and expand your consciousness, go to our Practitioner Page, and select any of our eight Practitioner who will be happy to assist you on this spiritual journey, using the spiritual tools of heartfelt listening and spiritual mind treatment.

With great love and respect,

Dr. Maxine

Oct. 4, 2022: From the Pen of Dr. Maxine

I forgive all and am forgiven of all and by all. Nothing remains in my being but love.  ~  Ernest Holmes, Science of Mind, p.261

In order to build a strong tomorrow, it is necessary to look just long enough at the yesterdays to glean what may be reframed and transformed. We do not wish to take any uncomfortable and unhelpful “baggage” from the past into our desired future. Of course, this will involve some measure of forgiveness, of ourselves and others. A good question to ask is, “With my present consciousness, would I have done anything differently at that time?” It is this brief glance in the “rear view mirror” of our awareness that we can cleanse our minds and hearts of blame or shame and become an open and welcoming instrument of Divine Possibilities.

Another great tool is to look to see the gifts we received from this experience, in order to release it in gratitude and experience real freedom. True forgiveness is releasing the negative emotions and replacing them with grateful possibilities. We all desire and deserve to live freely and joyfully, so let’s mindfully do our good work and open to a greater flow of Unconditional Love.

Continuing the theme for the month of October, “The Beloved Community,” our topic for Sunday, October 9th, will focus on “Authentic Forgiveness,” a necessary step for individuals and communities to prepare the way for an inspired future. We will livestream from the Inspiration Café, so please join us by going to our website, www.cslphilly.org and click on the “Watch Live” button. Look through the site to discover our coming events and to view past Celebrations and Love Notes.

On our Practitioner Page you will find eight caring and well-trained Practitioners who are available to help you through any challenges, using the spiritual tools of heartfelt listening and spiritual mind treatment. Any one you choose will be pleased to set up an appointment with you.

With great love and respect,

Dr. Maxine
