“All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.” — Walt Disney

I have always loved Walt Disney! My entire life, I have not been able to listen to “When You Wish Upon a Star” without welling up with a sense of renewed inspiration and, of course, joyful tears. As an individual practicing Science of Mind, I interpret the words differently than I did as a child. Today, when I listen to the song, I recognize the “star” as a symbol of Greater Consciousness. By my “wishing” upon “It”, I connect with something bigger than myself where the Truth of Light, Love, Life, Beauty, Peace, Power, and Joy reside in fullness. In doing so, I become open to “the Fate” that will “see me through” to the greater experience I desire.

I remember my first experience attending a Sunday Celebration at GPCSL. For months, maybe years, I felt that same sort of inspiration, connection and tears every Sunday. For many years, I focused on learning and practicing the teaching. My outlook and experiences were undeniably improved as a result even in the face of significant loss and challenges. As a result, I became committed to supporting the Center by sharing my time, treasure, and talent, with the desire for others to have the same opportunity and experience. It started out with my becoming a Greeter. Later, I was moved to become a Youth Group teacher, Prosperity Team member, AV assistant, and twice Board of Trustee and then President.

My current term as President is ending come this September. Over the last three years, my “wish” has been to see the Center not just survive but thrive! We have accomplished so much!!! The Center is financially sound with no accounts payable and entering into a new opportunity to grow our in-person and virtual communities by leasing space at the United Church of Christ at Valley Forge (UCCVF) at 45 Walker Road, in Wayne, PA. We’ll meet every Thursday evening (6:30pm Meditation / 7:00pm Celebration) in their lovely sanctuary and broadcast the recording of the Celebration each Sunday at our usual 10:30am ET on Facebook and YouTube.

We will also enjoy one in-person Sunday afternoon per month (initially) in their Fellowship Hall for classes, workshops, drum circles, games, and so much more. In fact, please mark your calendar for our Annual Community Meeting on Sunday, September 15th at the United Church of Christ. Doors open at 3pm, and the meeting will start at 3:30pm Eastern Time. Zoom will be made available to those not able to attend in-person.

I LOVE the idea of this new location for a few reasons.

1. UNITY: Our partnership with UCCVF is a true demonstration of walking our talk! We believe in honoring the truth in various faith traditions and there being many paths to the One. The folks at UCCVF are welcoming and share this philosophy.

2. COMMUNITY: The space is not only beautiful but also large and facilitates our having live music! Additionally, there are classrooms available for youth and teens to meet.

3. GROWTH: All of those attributes will help us get the bunch of us back together again and open our doors to new folks and families!

Clearly, Fate has stepped in and seen us through!

Members and Friends: Your engagement and financial support imbue GPCSL’s “dream” of Unity, Community, and Growth with momentum and countless opportunities for us and others to realize “anything our heart’s desire”.

I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the amazing people (Board members: Payson V.P., Monay Trustee, Suzanne, Secretary, and Dr. Maxine; Linda, Office Mgr., and, Triple A team – John and Karen, Treasurer) I have worked with. Their unwavering and joy-filled commitment to the Center is deeply appreciated. It has been an honor and privilege to service as the GPCSL Board President. Thank you, from the center of my heart to these folks and our community at large for all you are and do!

In gratitude and great love.

Edie Janik

GPCSL Board President

Dear Ones,

How we delight in using the Creative Process to bring about peace and plenty, love and wisdom, health and prosperity into our lives and into the world itself. It is as we “unlearn the wisdom of the world,” as Ralph Waldo Emerson suggested, that we become free to learn a greater Truth, to use the Power for Good for good, and to support one another in remaining in Principle when we may become too involved in externals.

This has always been a teaching philosophy, stressing our ability to deepen our connection to Source, to learn how to keep our consciousness elevated, and to speak Truth, rather than error. Our Beloved Center’s purpose statement, “Living, Loving, Learning: Spirituality That Works,” continues to be a guiding light in our spiritual evolutionary pursuits. The best part of this is how beautifully we support each other on the journey. We are all lifelong students, discovering deeper levels of Wisdom and joyfully sharing it with one another.

Join us IN PERSON next Sunday at the Inspiration Café in Paoli, PA, as we begin the month of September and its theme, “Learn, Teach, Transform.” Or, you may join us online by going to www.cslphilly.org and pressing the “Watch Now” button. My talk will address: “The Act of Unlearning.” This will be the last in- person Celebration here, and our next one will be on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 12th at the United Church of Christ Valley Forge in Wayne, PA. Come at 6:30 for Meditation, as we prepare for our 7:00 P.M. Celebration in their lovely Sanctuary. All our Thursday gatherings will be streamed on Sunday morning at 10:30 A.M., as usual.

Licensed Professional Practitioners are listed on the Practitioner Page of our website. You may contact any of them to schedule an appointment, either in person or on the telephone. There are times when we are wise to reach out for spiritual support.

As you scroll through our website, you will discover many events, classes, and activities in which you may wish to participate. Do consider our two Sunday Discovery Class on September 22nd and 29th whether you are considering membership or have been a part of our Center for a long time.  Click here for more information and to register.

Dear Ones,

Reverend Mike and I are on our way to Chicago today, returning late Friday night, and certainly taking you with us in our hearts. Isn’t it good to know that, just as we are constantly connected to Spirit, so we are always united with you heart-to-heart, our Beloved Community. I so love how beautifully we work and play together and how brightly we visioned together to allow gracious movement to a place we may gather until we relocate to one of our own. The vision is becoming tangible.

This is how the Creative Process works, whether individually or collectively, and we enthusiastically welcome the outward manifestation of the internal spiritual prototype we have designed. As satisfying as it is to work on our own in consciousness, the delight of joining with bright, creative, deeply connected people brings the greatest joy and most beautiful success in all we do.

Join us virtually next Sunday, as we conclude the month’s theme of, “Venturing In; Venturing Out,” streamed from the Inspiration Café in Paoli. Just go to www.cslphilly.org and press the orange “Watch Now” button. I’ll be speaking on, “Making the Vision Real.” As you may know, we begin our Thursday night in-person Celebrations on September 12th in the beautiful sanctuary of the United Church of Christ Valley Forge and so look forward to gathering with you there. (More details to come.)

Whenever we find ourselves too close to a problem, we are wise to reach out for spiritual support from a Licensed Professional Practitioner, all of whom may be found on the Practitioner Page of our website. Get to know them, and consider contacting any of them to schedule an appointment, either in person or on the telephone. Do scroll through our website to learn of many wonderful events, classes, and activities coming up, and consider participating in our two Sunday Discovery Class on September 22nd and 29th, or click here for all the details.

Dear Ones,

As beautiful and necessary are our deep dives into the Presence which nurtures and sustains us, we must allow Spirit to guide us wisely into our daily activities and experiences.  It has been said by the ancients that, “God rests in reason; God moves in passion,” and we find that internal rest and wisdom in meditation, then follow our guidance to do what is ours to do in our circle of influence and in the world itself.

It is something of a divine dance we do in connecting with Infinite Love, allowing ourselves the sweet embrace of Spirit, then acting with wisdom in our everyday activities.  Our Beloved Community is expanding our presence in the greater community, and our actions have come out of our shared visioning and spiritual guidance.  Please be with us tomorrow night on our 7:00 PM Community Zoom call to learn more about these wonderful plans. (If you would like to join us and have not received the Zoom link, please email: admin@cslphilly.com or call Linda today at 610-745-8472)

Rev. Mike will continue the monthly theme of “Venturing In; Venturing Out,” as he speaks on, “Now, Take It to the Streets!” for our in-person gathering this Sunday at the Inspiration Café in Paoli. You may also catch us online by going to www.cslphilly.org and pressing the “Watch Now” button.

Take a few moments to look through the site for upcoming events.  We are moving into some delightful, new activities. We are always here for you with spiritual support, and you will find capable Licensed Practitioners on our Practitioner Page who are ready and willing to schedule time with you.

With great love and respect,

Dr. Maxine

Dear Ones,

Once we “return home” to Spirit, which lives and dwells inside of us, a great celebration takes place. I imagine Spirit’s Joy is even greater than ours in such moments, as God loves to express Itself delightfully in and through each of us. We certainly do not wish to hinder this Divine Flow of Activity, so let’s enter into such shared happiness and be grateful for the ease with which this wonderful experience may occur.

We can never truly be outside of God’s Presence, for we “live and move and have our being” in the Divine. Yes, we live in the human world, aware of the challenges there, while we begin to see all problems as possibilities. It is through the eyes of Spirit that our perspectives change, and great work is accomplished.

My topic this week for our virtual Sunday will be, “A Joyful Reunion,” coming to you directly from the Inspiration Café in Paoli, by going online at www.cslphilly.org and pressing the “Watch Now” button. Do scroll through the site for upcoming events, and check out the Practitioner Page, where you will find people of high consciousness who can help to lift yours.

With great love and respect,

Dr. Maxine
