May 27, 2025: From the Pen of Dr. Maxine

Dear Ones,

As we enter into the new month of June, we begin to think about Father’s Day, weddings, vacations, and many other things that involve making wise and conscious choices. How shall we celebrate Dad? Can we attend that destination wedding? Have we made our vacation travel reservations? In fact, we are making decisions every day, throughout the entire year, and we are wise enough to be as conscious as possible while making them.

Probably the most important choice we ever make is to acknowledge our Source before considering anything else. This is why our theme for June is, “Making All the Right Choices,” and the topic this coming Sunday is, “Always God First.” It becomes too easy to be distracted by externals and get off center, the Center of Life, the wise and powerful space within us that always leads us correctly and successfully.  We cannot go wrong when we begin at the Beginning, the Creator of Life Itself, and follow Its Wisdom in all decision-making, whether large or small. As we let ourselves be guided each day by this Infinite Intelligence, every choice will be positive and life affirming and every day a grand success.

This Sunday will be our regular 1:00 P.M. Sunday gathering at UCCVF at 45 Walker Road, Wayne, PA. If you are not in the Philly area, please be with us for our Celebration by tuning in at 1:00 P.M. and going to our website: www.cslphilly.org and press the orange “Watch Online” button.

Our Licensed Professional Practitioners are available to you for spiritual support and may be reached on their dedicated page on our website or contacted on Sundays at Celebration. You may also place a request in the Prayer Chest on Sundays or request a “Three-Minute-Miracle” after Celebration on Sundays.

With great love and respect,

Next weekend, we will be observing Memorial Day, thankful for all servicemen and women who gave their all for our country. Pausing to reflect on the significance of such unselfish action, we remember that all sentient beings have within them the ability to give generously of themselves to others. There is something noble within all forms of life, and animals often prove this innate altruism by helping other species, including humans!

Getting in touch with this divine quality within ourselves, we naturally find paths to service, whether to individuals, extended family, or humankind itself.  It is through the gift of ourselves that we deepen our conscious connection to Spirit, discover joyful contributions we can make to others, and find greater meaning in Life Itself. As a Beloved Community, GPCSL can also make a difference in people’s lives, as we are an expression of the One Light capable of illuminating anything and everyone. Let’s keep finding ways to love, to serve, and to uplift others.

It was lovely enjoying each other in the cozy environment of the AVE Club House this past Sunday, and the video recording should now be available on our website. This Sunday, we happily return to our regular 1:00 P.M. Sunday gathering at UCCVF at 45 Walker Road, Wayne, PA.  If you are out of the area, please be with us for our Celebration by tuning in at 1:00 P.M. Eastern Time and going to our website: www.cslphilly.org and clicking on the orange Watch button as we address, “The Love of Service”.

Whenever you find yourself needing spiritual support, get in touch with one of our Licensed Professional Practitioners and let yourself be lifted in consciousness to greater possibilities. You may also place a request in the Prayer Chest on Sundays or request a “Three-Minute-Miracle” after Celebration on Sundays.

With great love and respect,

Ernest Holmes said that a practitioner of Religious Science must be filled with the spirit of Divine Compassion and have “. . . a deep, underlying sense of unity and sympathy …” Of course, all who use the principles of Science of Mind are practitioners of this powerful philosophy. We know that our work is far more than speaking certain words and using the Law of Mind for healthy enterprises. The spiritual mind treatments must come from the heart, embracing, embodying, and employing that empathy for others as the generator of our practice.

When Dr. Holmes refers to “sympathy,” he truly means “empathy,” which is connecting with others in a real sense of oneness, not entering into or identifying with another’s suffering. It is through Compassion that we are able truly to be with that beloved and keep the High Watch, rather than becoming submerged in the temporary challenge. We all have this Divine Power. and we benefit everyone, including ourselves, when we employ It.

This Sunday, we will NOT have access to UCCVF and will, instead, meet at 1:00 P.M. at the AVE Apartment Complex Clubhouse at 311 E. Lancaster Ave., Malvern, PA 19355. We are just one signal light west of Paoli Hospital and will meet in the cozy upstairs room. Come in the front door, help yourself to a beverage, and join us upstairs. Afterwards, those of us who have registered will enjoy an outing in Oaks at the American Treasure Museum from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. If you are out of the area, please be with us for our Celebration by tuning in after 4:00 P.M. ET by going to our ‘orange “Watch” button on our website: www.cslphilly.org  as we address, “The Greatest Power is Ours.”

Dear Ones,

It was His Holiness the Dalai Lama who beautifully shared his thoughts on compassion in this way: “Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.” This is not such a tall task as it may first seem, as each of us has within us a nurturing nature; perhaps, it is simply more developed in some than in others.  Jesus’ thought of “turning the other cheek” is not weakness but wisdom, as we are not served by resentment or retaliation.

Once we have shifted emotionally from reaction to response, we can touch that Center of Peace and Compassion within us, acknowledging Spirit’s Presence within everyone, giving a soft answer, and establishing an authentic connection.  Nothing is lost in opening our hearts to each other; in fact, everything is gained, and we all “win” as we let Love lead the way.

This Sunday, Mother’s Day, Rev. Mike will be speaking on, “Nature AND Nurture” in United Church of Christ of Valley Forge’s beautiful Sanctuary at 45 Walker Rd., Wayne, PA. Come be with loving, bright, compassionate friends. Those out of the area may be with us by tuning in at 1:00 P.M. by going to our website: www.cslphilly.org and clicking on the orange “Watch Online” button.

My 7-to-8-week class, “The Mystical Path,” begins one week from tonight, May 13th on Zoom, from 6:30 to 9:00 P.M. We will meet four Tuesdays in a row, have a short break on May 10th, then resume either three or four Tuesdays, concluding early July. This CSL Accredited Class is designed for seven weeks; yet, we may choose to add an eighth, if we so choose. Click here for more information and to register.

Our trained Professional Practitioners can always be reached on their page on our website whenever you require spiritual support. They also offer the gift of a brief “Three-Minute-Miracle” after Celebration on Sundays, and the Prayer Chest is available to receive your requests.
