April 29, 2024: From the Pen of Dr. Maxine

Dear Ones,

Those who attended last Saturday’s Celebration of Life for our beloved John Szal experienced a great overflowing, not only with a full house of family and friends in the Sanctuary, but with deep love, heart-warming stories, beautiful music, and a grand Celebration of this great soul.  Many also watched the live stream, and it is still available on our website for your viewing (click here to view).

This coming Sunday, May 4th, we begin a new monthly theme: “The Power of Compassion,” and my focus will be on, “Embracing Our Neighbors.” Coincidentally, that afternoon at 3:00 P.M., we will be participating in “NeighborFest” at Wilson Park, sponsored by the Upper Main Line Interfaith Alliance. Join in the fun and friendship, getting to know more about our neighboring faith traditions and enjoying food and games with the greater community.  GPCSL will be engaged in face-painting and animal balloon creating, so find our table, as well.

Remembering that it is not the love of power, but the Power of Love that is the answer to any and all human challenges, we are forever deepening our capacity for compassion, inviting Divine Love into each activity and every relationship.  This begins “at home,” starting with self-care and gentle examination of our own unconscious opinions and biases.

Inviting God’s Love to transform those unnecessary and non-productive patterns is the wisest action we can take. Next, we open our hearts more widely to our inner circle of family and friends, encouraging each other to come from Love more and more frequently. This, of course, leads us to embracing humanity itself, celebrating the underlying Unity of all Life.

If you cannot be with us in person on our Sunday Celebrations, you may tune in at 1:00 P.M. by going to our website: www.cslphilly.org and click on the orange Watch Online button.

My 7 to 8 week class, “The Mystical Path,” begins on Tuesday, May 13th on Zoom, from 6:30 to 9:00 P.M. We will meet four Tuesday in a row, have a short break on June 10th, then resume either three or four Tuesdays, concluding early July. This CSL Accredited Class is designed for seven weeks; yet, we may choose to add an eighth, if we so choose. Click here for more information.

You may contact any of our trained Professional Practitioners on their page on our website whenever you require spiritual support. They also offer the gift of a brief “Three-Minute-Miracle” after Celebration on Sundays, and the Prayer Chest is available to receive your requests.

With great love and respect,

Dr. Maxine
