We have begun the New Year focusing on the basic principles of our philosophy, as outlined in the first four introductory chapters of Science of Mind. This coming Sunday, we will wrap up the series by referencing the fourth chapter, “How to Use It,” and my talk will be, “Using the Power for Good . . . for Good!”  We have wonderfully effective spiritual tools, along with the freedom of choice, so our evolutionary process usually involves some misuse use, as well as positive use, of the Creative Law of Mind.

In our progressive awakening to our essential participation in raising our own consciousness to desiring and intending only that which is life-affirming and beneficial, we also lift others to a greater awareness of the Self.  As we learn to direct our thoughts, feelings, and attitudes toward greater Truth, we come into alignment with greater Good. As Ernest Holmes stated, “We should learn to control our thought processes and bring them into line with Reality.  Thought should tend more and more toward an affirmative attitude of mind that is positive, stable, and – above all else – toward a real unity with Spirit that is already complete and perfect.”

Our simple, sane, and sacred teaching is all about Love and Law, each of us embodying both that which is deeply personal and that which also is constantly dependable. The Divine Presence is loving, giving, nurturing, and creative, while the Infinite Law is accepting, intelligent, dependable, and creative.  We share the Universal Intelligence, co-creating on the human level what God establishes on the divine. In truth, there is no separation, only a difference in degree, for we are each a macrocosm of the Microcosm.

God speaks the Word, and it is done.  We speak our word, and it is done unto us as we believe. The initializing intention is one form of Intelligence, as we choose the direction of our intention.  The fulfilling of the word is another form of Intelligence, as the Law knows what to do and how to do it to bring the intention into manifestation.  The conscious aspect of Mind plants the seed in the fertile soil of the subconscious form of Mind, and this Universal Creative Process operates continuously through the Infinite and the finite. Your mind and my mind are personalized aspects of the One Mind.

It is quite simple, and anyone who routinely connects with the Loving Presence and consciously directs the Impeccable Law for a greater expression of life finds great rewards in the practice.  As we continue our study of Science of Mind basics this month, you may wish to read the four introductory chapters of Ernest Holmes’ Science of Mind.

Many of us started out this brand, New Year facing, dealing with, and overcoming a number of human challenges through the wise and constructive use of our spiritual practices: Meditation, Spiritual Mind Treatment, and the courageous intention to “keep our conversations in heaven,” both internally and externally. This is a perfect time to be reviewing the basic principles of our teaching, and, as we embrace our Beloved Community’s new theme for 2024, “A Whole New World,” we are stepping up in consciousness to a higher vision of The Possible.

We began last Sunday in our annual review of the four Introductory chapters of Ernest Holmes’ Science of Mind and, as we continue throughout the month of January, you are encouraged to read each chapter in advance, if you wish a “preview,” and during the week after as a “review.”  Our January theme is, “An Auspicious, New Beginning.” This is the opportune time, and we are the fortunate people who are enthusiastically joining with Light Workers from all over the world to lift the human consciousness to a higher level. With Martin Luther King, Jr. day of commemoration coming this weekend, we not only honor his Dream, but we continue developing a greater vision of a world that truly works for all.

Moving along this evolutionary path of spiritual unfoldment, we wisely and lovingly support one another on the journey. As our Purpose Statement reminds us, we are about, “Living, Loving, Learning,” and we do engage in “Spirituality That Works!” This Sunday, January 14^th, Rev. Ernest Holmes’ words at the very beginning of the “textbook,” The Science of Mind, are: These lessons are dedicated to that Truth which frees man from himself and sets him on the pathway of a new experience, which enables him to see through the mist to the Eternal and Changeless Reality.

As we enter this new year, I am encouraged by those conscious, curious, caring people who are resolute in standing in Eternal Truth, despite external appearances. As we focus on Oneness in the face of divisiveness, Love in the presence of hate, Plenty instead of deprivation, and Peace where conflict occurs, we empower ourselves and others to see through the mist of misinformation and misconduct to the constant Presence of God.

This is the time of year when many of us in Centers for Spiritual Living focus on the basic teachings of Science of Mind, discussing the first four introductory chapters in Dr. Holmes’ inspirational writings in what we have fondly come to know as our “textbook.” In our Beloved Community, we are focusing on “A Whole New World” in 2024, and our January theme is, “An Auspicious, New Beginning.” Each Sunday, we expect to bring to life each of the four chapters, and we encourage you to read the one for each Sunday in advance and to review it during the week.

It is in the deepening of our connection to Source, the development of understanding of the Law, and the wise utilization of these Divine Principles that we attain True Freedom. There is a Whole New World to be discovered within each of us, and our individual discovery and empowerment inspires others to enter deeply into Spirit and to live in Harmony and Freedom. Let’s walk together into amazing, new opportunities this year.
