Jan. 18, 2022: From the Pen of Dr. Maxine

The one who wishes scientifically to work out his problems, must daily take the time to meditate and mentally treat the condition, no matter what the apparent contradictions may be. He is working silently in the law and the Law will find an outlet through his faith in It.   ~ Ernest Holmes, Science of Mind, p. 57

We have arrived at the message of the fourth and final introductory chapter of the Science of Mind, entitled, “How to Use It.”  Dr. Holmes makes it very clear that “we are likely to indulge in too much theory and too little practice” of this wonderful teaching, so we are all about putting it into practice in a beautiful and effective way.  Rev. Mike and I return refreshed and “re-purposed” from our wonderful Centers for Spiritual Living Convention in California, ready to continue deepening the dive into Spirit, both personally and within our Beloved Community.

Relying completely on Principle, embracing the Love of God, and directing the Law of Mind, we succeed in remaining above any and all circumstances as we move in new, powerful directions of greater Life and Its perfect expression.  Externals may change, while Eternal Truths do not.  God is the same today, tomorrow, and forever, and each of us, as conscious, creative Centers of Divine Love and Infinite Wisdom celebrate the Infinite Possibilities that are ready to reveal themselves to us now.

As we engage in these spiritual practices, we lovingly support one another along our evolutionary paths, grateful for the Truth that sets us free and keeps us free.  My talk title this Sunday will be, “This is Our Purpose,” and you are invited to join us on line by going to our website, www.cslphilly.org at 10:30 A.M. Whether you tune in locally or from a great distance, we delight in experiencing our expanded Spiritual Community, as it comes together for good.

The winter weather suggests that watching from home may be wiser than attending in person; but, if you choose to come to the Center, be sure to wear your mask and remain socially distanced from others.  A warm smile and “air hug” help us feel close, as we continue following CDC recommendations for safety and wellbeing.  We love and care for one another, as we move successfully through all human circumstances and invite the Power of Spirit to lift us into greater and greater experiences of a joyful life.

Be sure to contact any of our Practitioners or our Intern, all available on the Practitioner Page of our website, for assistance with any challenges for which you wish to seek spiritual mind treatment.

With great love and respect,

Dr. Maxine

Jan. 11, 2022: From the Pen of Dr. Maxine

The Principle that we have to demonstrate is perfect, and — in so far as we can compel the mind to perceive this perfection — so far it will automatically demonstrate.  ~ Ernest Holmes, Science of Mind, p. 49

How grateful we are that Dr. Holmes synthesized the thought of the greatest philosophers, scientists, mystics, and spiritual teachers into our Science of Mind teaching.  He presented a simple and powerful Principle that we use to bring more peace, prosperity, health, love, compassion, and creativity in our lives and in the world. The practice of Spiritual Mind Treatment (or Affirmative Prayer) has changed the lives of millions who have studied this philosophy and successfully applied its Principle.

As we enjoy reviewing our basic teaching this month, we continue our focus on the first four introductory chapters of Science of Mind: “The Thing Itself,” “The Way It Works,” “What It Does,” and “How to Use It.” While Rev. Mike and I join our beloved ministerial colleagues at the CSL Convention in Indian Wells, California next week, Rev. Doug Craig from Calgary, Canada, will bring you an outstanding message on the third introductory chapter of the “textbook,” and his talk is entitled: “As I think, So Shall It Be.”  Rev. Doug’s clarity, wisdom, and humor will instruct and uplift you to greater awareness.

Although a few people have been joining us in person at our Sunday Celebrations, it is probably wise during this winter weather to tune in at home by going to our website, www.cslphilly.org and joining in consciousness with those near and far who love coming together as a Spiritual Community. If you do choose to attend in person, be sure to wear your mask and remain socially distanced from others.  A warm smile and “air hug” help us feel close, as we continue following CDC recommendations for safety and wellbeing. From our website, you may press the “Watch Now” button and choose to watch either on Facebook or YouTube, and past Celebrations and Rev. Mike’s and my “Love Notes” are archived there, as well.

Our Practitioners and Intern continue to be available to care for all your spiritual needs.  Simply check out the Practitioner Page on our website, and be prepared to work with the one you choose, as you release limitation and embrace a new consciousness.

As so many external conditions are changing and bringing unexpected occurrences, we continue to follow the Infinite Wisdom within and all around us by maintaining our focus on Principle: that which never changes and is always working in our behalf.

With great love and respect,

Dr. Maxine

Jan. 5, 2022: Introducing GPCSL’s New “BoT Spot”

Welcome to GPCSL’s New “BoT Spot”!

There is not a spot where God is not . . . including the GPCSL Board of Trustees!!! Each month, the “BoT Spot” will fill you in on the Board’s focus, activities, and give you an opportunity to learn more about its members. As we welcome in the new year, we first want to express our deep appreciation to our members and friends who have shared their time, treasure, and talent in support of our Center throughout 2021. Organizations and their members have faced some trying times over the last 18 months. Through your support, GPCSL expanded its outreach via livestream technology and eventually re-opened for in-person Sunday Celebrations and events in July, and continued making its contribution to a “World that Works for All” by sharing the Science of Mind teaching and principles. Thank you!

Board’s Current Focus:  We continue to prayerfully make plans for 2022, and beyond. And, we want to hear from you! That is why we will be reaching out to better understand the needs of our community during the month of January. Your insight, along with the Intentional Giving commitments we have received, will inform our decisions going forward related to our Center’s location, classes, and community events. We look forward to connecting with you soon!

January’s Board meeting will be held on Tuesday the 25th.

As always, feel free to reach out to us with questions or comments any time. Here is a direct link to our “Contact Us” page.

That’s all for this month’s BoT Spot! Until next time, Happy New Year, be well, and continue to shine your radiant light!

With love and deep appreciation,

Edie Janik, President

On behalf of the GPCSL Board of Trustees

Jan. 4, 2022: From the Pen of Dr. Maxine

Let us realize and work with this sound knowledge and perfect faith: That as high as we shall make our mark in Mind and Spirit, so high shall be Its outward manifestation in our material world.

~ Ernest Holmes, Science of Mind, p. 39

We love beginning our New Year with a review of the basic principles of Science of Mind, choosing to build a strong base for what we are ready to create in the months to come.  We completed 2021 mindfully, peacefully, and gratefully, with the World Peace Meditation the morning of Dec. 31st, and the Burning Bowl Ceremony January 2nd.  Releasing the past year with care and appreciation, we opened the way for wonderful, new beginnings.

Centers for Spiritual Living’s theme for 2022 is, “Living Everyday Wonder,” a fitting phrase for us to remain awake to the beauty of our world and the perfect possibilities Spirit has for us all.  GPCSL’s theme for the month of January is, “Beautiful Basics.” This past Sunday, we began the review of the first four chapters in Science of Mind, this one entitled, “The Thing Itself,” and we recalled the immense and eternal Presence of the Divine and Its Powerful, Creative Intelligence that is alive within the Universe, as well as within each one of us. You may wish to read ahead in the “textbook” this week, as our focus will be on the second introductory chapter, “The Way It Works.” My topic will be, “You Can Count on It.”

As more of us are attending in person at our 10:30 A.M. Sunday morning Celebrations, we continue following CDC recommendations for safety and wellbeing, which includes wearing masks indoors and staying socially distanced. If you arrive early, you may join the Practitioner of the Day in a brief meditation at 10:00 A.M. If you choose to attend virtually, simply go to our website www.cslphilly.org and select either Facebook or YouTube to view the Celebration or click on the orange Watch Live button. You may also see other archived Sunday mornings or watch “Love Notes” Rev. Mike and I record Monday through Friday.

Our Practitioners and Intern are always glad to hear from you and to work with you in spiritual mind treatment (affirmative prayer) for any condition you are ready heal or change you are ready to make in your consciousness and in your world. Just go to the Practitioner Page on our website, and you will be guided to the one you feel ready to call, as you move into greater possibilities this year.

Yes, there are challenges ahead for all of us; yet, there is a Power for Good in the Universe, greater than we are, and we are using It! Let’s enjoy working together to bring a new reality into existence, for ourselves, our loved ones, our Beloved Community, and the world itself.

With great love and respect,

Dr. Maxine

Dec. 28, 2021: From the Pen of Dr. Maxine

Our life is an apprenticeship to the truth that around every circle another can be drawn; that there is no end in nature, but every end is a beginning; that there is always another dawn risen on mid-noon, and under every deep a lower deep opens. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Circles”

As we complete the year of 2021, we realize that the ending of these past twelve months opens the way for us to enter into a New Year, inspired with infinite possibilities for greater health and wellbeing in every area of our lives and a deeper connection with God, the Source of all.  As Ernest Holmes states in the first introductory chapter of the Science of Mind, p. 27, “. . . God is in, through, around and for us.”

Releasing the past with love and gratitude, we embrace the New Reality for an inspired future that we, individually and collectively, are co-creating.  We are serious about “A World That Works for All” and willing and able to do our part in consciousness to bring it about . . . sooner, rather than later.  As there is neither time nor space in the Mind of God, so we do our spiritual work “At the corner of Here and Now!” We can do this together, so let’s begin.

If you were not present with us for our Annual Winter Solstice, “Nurturing Night; Loving the Light,”  you may experience it from your own home at any time by going to our website www.cslphilly.org Click on the “watch live” button, as it is archived there.

We love being with each other again in person for our Sunday morning Celebrations at 10:30 A.M., as everyone follows CDC recommendations for safety and wellbeing, which includes wearing masks indoors and staying socially distanced. Our Practitioner of the Day holds a brief meditation at 10:00 A.M. each Sunday in the “Upper Room.” Our topic the first Sunday in January is, “All Directions Point to God.” You may tune in virtually by going to our website. Monday through Friday’s daily “Love Notes” given by Rev. Mike and me, are archived there, as well as past gatherings and upcoming events.

We would love to see you this Friday, December 31st at 6:45 A.M., as we complete the year together in loving and mindful ways, gathering at the Center for a World-Wide Peace Meditation that begins promptly at 7:00, facilitated by Rev. Mike, and followed by breakfast at a nearby restaurant for all the wise people who choose to join us!

You will find our qualified and caring Practitioners and Intern on the Practitioner Page of our website.  Connect with any one of them to help you work through whatever challenges you may be facing or to assist you in realizing your greater dreams.

Let’s wrap up this year with gratitude for gifts received, as we release it with love and enter into a confident sense of cheerful expectancy for what is yet to come.

With great love and respect,
Dr. Maxine
