“Life always becomes to us the particular thing we need when we believe that it becomes to us that particular thing. The understanding of this is the essence of simplicity . . . our thought and conscious receptivity differentiate this Universal Possibility . . . ” ~ Ernest Holmes, Science of Mind, p. 45

How sweet it was to gather for a second Sunday at Inteprod last week, have live musicians, and seats filled with beautiful people, loving to be together again! We have the pleasure of being there at the Smethers great facility again February 5th and 12th, the two intervening Sundays livestreamed from the Inspiration Café. Continuing our cruise through the first four introductory chapters of Science of Mind, Rev. Mike will be speaking next Sunday on, “Perfecting Our Technique,” Based on Chapter III, “What It Does.” You may wish to review pages 40 to 50 in advance of his presentation. We will be reminded that, “Love Rules Through Law” and that we are expressions of the Divine Spirit that created us and are designed to direct the Immutable that is available to us.

You may wish to invite your friends to attend this review of the basics principles of our teaching. Quantum science has confirmed the essence of Life as creative energy and our ability to influence this infinite substance through the use of our minds. Our teaching has always been on the leading edge of the discovery and positive use of this Principle.

Our spiritual tools include Affirmative Prayer, or Spiritual Mind Treatment, which is our powerful and effective process of accessing the Presence and directing the Law. Let’s continue remembering and learning together.

The next two Sundays will be livestreamed from the Inspiration Café, and we’ll complete the basics the end of January, concluding our monthly theme of, “The Foundation.” To tune in when we are not gathering in person, or for those not in the area, simply go to our website www.cslphilly.org and use the orange “Watch Live” button to connect with us at 10:30 A.M.

Do check out our website, and, as you scroll through the pages, you will find coming events and previous talks and Love Notes. A two-week workshop on “The Four Kingdoms of Consciousness” will be offered two Tuesday nights, 6:30-8:30 PM EST, January 31st and February 7th.  It will also be offered as an in-person afternoon class at the Inspiration Cafe in Paoli, PA from 2-4 PM EST on the same dates. Both will be on a love offering basis, and we invite you to register on the website if you plan to attend. Other new classes and workshops will be shown soon. Whenever you feel the need for spiritual support, go to the Practitioner Page and select one our caring Practitioners to assist you with spiritual tools for any human issue.

It is a new year and we are looking forward to all it will bring! Personally, I feel like the theme for GPCSL 2023 is “Let’s Do This!”. By that I mean, deepen our practice of Living, Loving, and Learning, with Spirituality that Works – together and with joy filled hearts!

Here are just few things 2023 has in store for us:

  • More in-person Sunday Celebrations!
  • Guest speakers!
  • Live Music!
  • Labyrinth walks, movie nights, potlucks, brunch/dinner outings, Celebrations in the park (followed by volleyball and games…bring it!)
  • CARE Groups!
  • Life changing classes!
  • GPCSL Youth gatherings!
  • Welcoming new members and growing!!!

Yes, I used a lot of exclamation points there and I am not ashamed of it!

The Community, Ministry, Financial Team, and Board have all cared for the Center through a time of unforeseen challenges these last few years. The landscape is less uncertain now and we have solid resources available to us to co-create a life enriching, spiritually satisfying, and memorably fun 2023! See you there!!!  (Oops…there I go again.)

In gratitude and great love,

“We are thinking, willing, knowing, conscious centers of Life. We are surrounded by, immersed in, and there is flowing through us, a creative Something . . .” ~ Ernest Holmes, Science of Mind, p. 38

It was wonderful meeting in person at Inteprod this past Sunday, and we are looking forward to being there again this coming Sunday, thanks to Rick and Suzanne Smethers. With this year’s theme being, “Building a New Consciousness, we continue our focus on the first four introductory chapters of Ernest Holmes, Science of Mind, pages 25 through 60. January’s theme is, “The Foundation,” so this review is timely for newcomers and long-time students and practitioners of our teaching, as well. We love being reminded of the basics. You may wish to read through the second chapter, “The Way It Works,” up to page 40, in preparation for Sunday’s talk, “Learning the Process.”

Once we understand that each of us is a Center of Divine Activity, imbued with the creative abilities to generate a life of goodness for ourselves and others, we delight in using the Law of Mind consciously and successfully. As we fine-tune our consciousness, we become generous receivers of the Divine Bounty, clear, radiant instruments, through which Spirit shines. We are, indeed, essential to the expression of Divine Life. This is a wonderful perspective to develop, as we deepen our faith and speak our Truth BELIEVING.

We continue to stream our Sunday Celebrations to our wider Community, even when we are meeting in person, and we have maintained our intention of being together physically twice a month. To tune in when you are not with us, simply go to our website www.cslphilly.org and use the “Watch Live” button to connect with us at 10:30 A.M.

There is much to see on our website, and, as you scroll through the pages, you will find coming events and previous talks and Love Notes. A two-week workshop on “The Kingdoms of Consciousness” will be offered Tuesday, January 31st and February 7th.  I will hold an afternoon in-person class at the Inspiration Cafe in Paoli, PA, and an evening Zoom class. It will be on a love offering basis, and we invite you to register on the website if you plan to attend.

Our Practitioners are standing by to assist you with the spiritual tools we use to address human challenges, and all are listed on the Practitioner Page.

The study of the Science of Mind is a study of First Cause, Spirit, Mind, or that invisible Essence, that ultimate Stuff and Intelligence from which everything comes, the Power back of creation — the Thing Itself.  ~ Ernest Holmes, Science of Mind, p. 26

Happy, Healthy, Loving, Abundant New Year to our Beloved Community!  As this is the first of the year, we will be focusing on the first four introductory chapters of Ernest Holmes, Science of Mind, pages 25 through 60.  Our theme for the year is, “Building a New Consciousness,” and we are focusing this month on, “The Foundation,” which is why we love reviewing the basics of Religious Science at this time.  You may wish to read through the first chapter, “The Thing Itself,” up to page 34 in preparation for Sunday’s talk, “The Basic Material.”

Of course, before anything substantial can be created, the best materials must be used, and the foundation firmly established.  Since we remember that, “There is One Life; that Life is God’s Life; that Life is Perfect, and that Life is my Life now,” we begin everything in a consciousness of Unity.  Each of us, as an individualized manifestation of the Divine, created of the One Life, has access to the Power of Good that indwells us all. Beginning at the beginning, we understand that everything starts from within the Heart and Mind of God and expresses in form.  It all starts with the Sacred Presence, which shows Itself in our lives and into all creation.

To join us for our Sunday Celebrations, go to our website www.cslphilly.org and use the “Watch Now” button to connect with us at 10:30 A.M.

You’ll find information and inspiration on our website, so scroll through the pages to keep up with all our latest events, and tune into our live streams or view past Celebrations and Love Notes from Rev. Mike and me. Do check out our Christmas and New Year’s Sunday mornings, as they are testimony to Jeff Masino’s fine production talents. Classes and special activities will be posted soon, the first two-week workshop on “The Kingdoms of Consciousness” will be offered two Tuesday nights, January 31st and February 7th.

Our Practitioner Page lists our fine Religious Science Practitioners with whom you may meet or have a session on the telephone to help you work through challenges or questions.

Dec 27, 2022: From the Pen of Dr. Maxine

“Ever as the spiral grew He left the old house for the new. Build thee more stately mansions, O my soul, While the swift seasons roll. Leave the low-vaulted past; Let each new temple, nobler than the last, Shut thee from heaven with a dome more vast, Till thou at last art free, Leaving thy outgrown shell By life’s unceasing sea.” ~ Oliver Wendell Holmes, The Chambered Nautilus

As we approach the end of 2022, we may emulate the Roman god, Janus, who had the fascinating ability to look backward and forward simultaneously. A year-end review is a powerful and effective way to evaluate the previous twelve months, consider what we might have chosen differently, find the gifts in each experience, and release the year with loving gratitude.

Oliver Wendell Holmes’ “The Chambered Nautilus” is often used as a metaphor for leaving the human body, as the soul takes its immortal journey at the end of this life; however, it can be justifiably viewed as a release of that which has served but no longer fits us in our spiritual progress right here on earth. The chambered nautilus is one of the oldest creatures known to survive in the earth’s oceans. It is a symbol of nature’s grace in growth, expansion, and renewal. It is also a symbol of order amidst chaos as reflected in its spiral precision. (The “other Holmes” has much to contribute to us!)

As we outgrow the lesser “shells” of our understanding, we prepare to move into a more expanded and successful consciousness. We have a clean slate before us and are free to create a life of truer freedom and greater attainment. The “more stately mansions” into which we may move include the experience of increased wisdom, deeper love, and grander creative ideas and their fulfillment. Forming a new vision for ourselves and the greater community in the new year is the first step in co-creating the world into which we choose to step. Establishing specific objectives and goals which are inspired by that vision is the next intelligent and productive action to take.

Our last gathering of the year will take place this Saturday, December 31st at the AVE Clubhouse in Malvern, 311 Lancaster Ave. Please arrive by 6:45 A.M., when Rev. Mike will lead us at 7:00 A.M. in a beautiful World Peace Meditation, corresponding with all other gatherings around the world at Greenwich Mean Time. At 8:00 A.M., we go to breakfast together at a local restaurant, as we did last year. Click here to sign up.

The next day, Sunday, January 1st, we will stream our Sunday Celebration, with a shared, “He Said/She Said” talk from both Rev. Mike and me. The title will be, “Begin with the Blueprint.” Our new theme for 2023 is, “Building a New Consciousness,” and January’s will be “The Foundation.” Simply go to our website www.cslphilly.org and use the “Watch Now” button to connect with us at 10:30 A.M. Let’s work together to “build more stately mansions” and occupy them with ever-expanding joy!

Be sure to view our calendar of events, tune into our live streams or view past Celebrations and Love Notes from Rev. Mike and me. You may also choose to visit our Practitioner Page, where you will find licensed practitioners who are happy to work with you in consciousness to address issues of concern, greater desired good, or simply to receive a greater understanding of Science of Mind.

With great love and respect,

Dr. Maxine
