Monthly Archives: October 2026

Oct. 27, 2026: From the Pen of Dr. Maxine

Dear Ones,

As we enter the festive month of November, it is only natural to begin to experience thoughts of Thanksgiving, both the holiday itself and the sacred activity of deepening our gratitude.  One involves gathering with family, planning and sharing food, while the other is a sacred, spiritual practice that does not wait for any particular time of year. As we begin planning for this holiday, there is every reason to bring the two together, setting intentions to feel true thanksgiving for our family and friends, for the bounty we are fortunate to have and to share, and for the Divine Presence which makes it all possible.

Imagine experiencing this sacred awareness every day, whether a holiday or simply a “holy day,” as each one truly is when we keep our perspective elevated. As we shared in last Sunday’s wonderfully inspiring Annual Community Meeting, our Vision is about flourishing, individually and as a Beloved Community. The most effective way to evolve into this Vision is to deepen and extend our gratitude every day and to become more open and receptive to the Generous Giver of Life and All Good.

The theme for November is, “The Growing Grace of Gratitude,” and our  1:00 P.M. Celebration brings us to the first day of the return to Standard Time, so be sure to set your clocks back one hour on Saturday night. This Sunday’s Celebration will focus on, “Gratitude is Causative.”  We meet at UCCVF, 45 Walker Road, Wayne, Pennsylvania, or you may join online by going to our website: www.cslphilly.org  Our spiritual community goes far beyond this lovely sanctuary, and there is neither separation nor distance in our extended family. Everyone belongs, whether physically near or far.

Click here to register for the two-Sunday Zoom “Discovery Classes” and join the enthusiastic folks ready to learn more about Centers for Spiritual Living, the history of Science of Mind, its principles and practices, and especially the work of the Greater Philadelphia Center for Spiritual Living. We’ll gather on two Sunday afternoons, November 8th and 15th from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. ET. All registrants will receive an inspiring and informative booklet, and there is no charge for it or the class, although love offerings are always graciously accepted.

 With great love and respect,

Dr. Maxine

As we awaken to the Divine Presence of Love and Infinite Wisdom within us, we can no longer remain “stuck” in conditions or false beliefs that may have followed us for years. As Buckminster Fuller once wisely remarked, “We have been like infants, crawling around on the floor of the universe!” Don’t you think it is time we gathered our internal and external resources and began acknowledging the magnificent beings we were created to be?

As we rise up in consciousness, recalling with gratitude just Who and Whose we truly are, there is no limit to what we can do, individually and together. As Margaret Mead suggested, “Never doubt that a small, group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; for indeed, that’s all who ever have.” How wonderful to realize that, as we deepen our conscious awareness of our oneness with Source, lifting our own sense of what is infinitely possible, our joining with like-minded people can change much.

Let’s dive deeply into Spirit and connect compassionately and powerfully  with others, as we drop all limitations and live courageously here and now!

This Sunday’s Celebration at 1:00 P.M. EDT, will complete the monthly theme of “Step Out Fearlessly,” focusing on, “Aligned with Spirit, Boldly We Go.” It is time we ceased playing small and began to invite the Power of Spirit to inspire and engage us in magnificent expressions of Life. We meet at UCCVF, 45 Walker Road, Wayne, Pennsylvania, or you may join online by going to our website: www.cslphilly.org

An insightful and delightful Annual Community Meeting will follow our Sunday Celebration, with a selection of pizza offered in Fellowship Hall.  Your Board of Trustees plans a wonderful gathering, both for those who can be with us in person and for anyone at a distance who joins us on Zoom. However you connect with us, you are a significant part of our spiritual family, and your voice is a necessary part of our vision and activities.

 With great love and respect,

Dr. Maxine

Dear Ones,

No matter how long we may have entertained false, restrictive beliefs that have prevented us from joyful living, there exist Infinite Possibilities for change that invite us to let go of such patterns and embrace new, life-affirming concepts. As we plant seeds of positivity, the great Law of Mind immediately begins the intelligent, creative action of growing these seeds and providing us with a healthy harvest.

Infinite Wisdom guides us to set elevated and fruitful life choices, Divine Love inspires us to maintain the high path, and transformation occurs with grace and ease. It is when we turn our attention away from what we do not desire that the field of possibility opens wide to us.  “Seek first the Kingdom of Heaven,” and all shall be added.  Understanding that this kingdom of constant expansion dwells within us, we are led to beautiful choices, and we are “transformed by the renewing of our minds.”

Be with us either in person or online this coming Sunday at 1:00 P.M. EDT, as we continue the monthly theme of “Step Out Fearlessly,” focusing on, “Transform the Limitations.” Since we have either consciously or unconsciously formed these patterns within ourselves, we have the power to set new intentions and move into the freedom of newness. We meet at UCCVF, 45 Walker Road, Wayne, Pennsylvania, or you may join online by going to our website: www.cslphilly.org  However you connect with us, you are a significant part of our spiritual family, and we care deeply about you.

With great love and respect,

Dr. Maxine

Dear Ones,

Fortunately, not too many of us feel that we must “go it alone” when faced with a difficult task or challenging situation.  We rely on the Presence within us for nurture and guidance and are wise enough to accept support  and encouragement from dear people, whether family or friends. Occasionally, we may even find inspiration from a stranger and find that allies come in many forms. A cheerful word, reassuring glance, or bit of unexpected praise may often lift us out of doubt into renewed confidence.

Thankful for our circle of supporters, we experience their positive energy that helps us to move forward. Grateful for the Divine Guidance within us, we deepen our faith in a Power greater than we are and step forth boldly into new enterprises. Let’s recognize and honor all our allies and remember that we truly are never alone.

Be with us either in person or online this coming Sunday at 1:00 P.M. EDT, as we continue the monthly theme of “Step Out Fearlessly,” focusing on, “Let’s Gather Our Allies.” Being in the presence of conscious, creative, supportive people helps us all on our spiritual evolutionary journeys. We meet at UCCVF, 45 Walker Road, Wayne, Pennsylvania, or you may join online by going to our website: www.cslphilly.org  and clicking on the Watch Online link.  However you connect with us, you are a significant part of our spiritual family, and we care deeply about you.

With great love and respect,

Dr. Maxine
