Dear Ones,

We understand that a healthy mindset tends to produce pleasant, satisfying, successful experiences, while worry or anxiety brings about the opposite.  As we diligently train our minds in the direction of positive intention, our inner strength increases, and it becomes easier to maintain a state of calm faith and peaceful anticipation. Ernest Holmes tells the students of this teaching that, “We should work, not with anxiety but with expectancy; not by coercion but with conviction; not through compulsion but in a state of conscious recognition and receptivity.” The Science of Mind, p. 58

Anticipating a favorable outcome, looking for the good and praising it, and remaining in a state of serene acceptance, we begin experiencing a joyous, successful life of greater happiness and real freedom. This is the divine intention for us, and we are all capable of stepping up to it in consciousness and co-creating a beautiful life for ourselves and others.

Dear Ones,

In whatever decade you may find yourself, there are gifts and blessings there for you. Looking back at earlier times in life can be educational, as well as interesting, as we can see how very far we have come in understanding the world, deepening our connection to the Divine Presence, and living more fully and effectively as a result of our learning and growth.

Let’s welcome each journey around the sun, remembering that Spirit is ageless, that we are individualized emanations of that Sacred Presence, and that we are renewed in mind and body in each instant of that recognition. As a dear minister friend used to admonish, “Don’t let age be your cage!” We truly were designed to feel alive and energetic throughout life, bringing our gifts to the world, and delighting in the joy of living a meaningful life.

Dear Ones,

Our founder, Ernest Holmes, lived simply yet beautifully, sharing his abundance with others, both spiritually and materially. The movement he began in Southern California one hundred years ago has found its way into open hearts and minds throughout the world, and we are blessed to be one of the long-standing Centers of Spiritual Living in our country.  Dr. Holmes helped people understand that Gods is loving, giving, and life-sustaining, never withholding Good from Its beloved creation, which is divinely designed to live fully and freely.

As co-creators with the Divine, we are capable of thriving in Spirit, even while moving through challenging situations.  Peace and Harmony underlie all circumstances, and it is in taking a deep dive into this Reality than we are able to experience the joy and freedom of truly thriving and inspiring others to live their lives peacefully, powerfully, and joyfully, as well.

Dear Ones,

Having wondered at times, what comprises a person or group of people considered “less fortunate,” the best answer I have come up with, “those not yet awake.” Those who live lives of reasonable comfort and freedom are likely aware of the Divine Presence which indwells, loves, and sustains us, even in troubling times and situations.  We are extremely fortunate simply in remembering the Source of Life, the Ground of Being, the Creator and Supplier of all Good. As the Master Teacher wisely stated,  “The Kingdom is within,” and this is the beginning of our awakening to the Truth that sets us free and keeps us free.

Once connected with Spirit within and all around us, we are no longer at the mercy of the physical conditions and external challenges that may be considered “misfortunes” and our lives are transformed from limitation to freedom.  Every sentient being is divinely designed to enjoy the goodness intended for us from the foundation of the Universe, and we can help others discover it by wisely and compassionately lifting them to a joyous and free expression of God’s Life.

Dear Ones,

Completing the month of June and its focus on, “Conscious, Caring Choices,” we are ready enter July with the intention to “Celebrate Everything!” Beginning with looking back 250 years to the inception of our democracy, we are wise to re-read the Constitution, beginning with, “We hold these truths to be self-evident . . .” Equality and sovereignty are at the heart of this document, with the government responsible for upholding these “God-given” rights of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

It is up to each of us to consciously, caringly choose to give thanks for how we may personally implement the core values on which our country was founded. Having been created of the One Life, all people are to be honored and respected as individualized expressions of this Life. We celebrate Unity in diversity, as well as each person’s choices, so long as they do not harm or hinder other people’s rights and preferences for living a free and joyful life.

Yes, it is possible to engage in living fully, freely, and joyfully, especially when we remember that God is our Source and all people are “family.” It is not necessary to criticize or dismiss another’s point of view but to remember our divine connection with all, understanding that we need both our deep connection to Spirit and our unity with all people.
